March 11: Champion of Champion Sprint Car Series – Baypark

Baypark Speedway offers the final round of the Champion of Champion Sprint Car Series with the best drivers from throughout the North Island racing for the overall series title. Also racing are super saloons, saloons, stock cars, six-shooter wingless sprint cars and mini stocks. The night starts 6.30pm with children’s bouncy castle, face painting, trampolines and more on-site. Details:

March 17-19: Targa Rotorua

Targa Rotorua returns to its traditional two-day format in and around Rotorua, offering ease of activation and abundant variety of fabulous roads in the ultimate road race. Leg 1 on March 18: First car starts from The Village Green, Rotorua, at 8am with services at Ngakuru, Tokoroa and Puraruru arrives back 5.30pm. Leg 2 on March 19: First car starts from The Village Green at 8am, with services at Te Teko, Edgecumbe and Pikiao and finishes 3.30pm at Novotel Hotel Lakeside, Rotorua. Details:

March 19: McFall Museum open to public – Mount Maunganui

The second opening in the last two years, the public is invited to see the rare private collection in McFall Museum from 10am-3pm as a fundraiser for Mount Maunganui Rotary Club. Inside is a wide range of vintage farm tractors – represented by 15 different brands originating from Germany, England, Scotland, Australia, USA, and Canada – plus stationary engines, petrol bowsers, classic cars and memorabilia at McFall Museum, end of Hocking St.

March 22: Waihi’s Warm Up Party for Beach Hop

Waihi CBD roads will be closed and the streets filled with hundreds of classic cars and hotrods, lives bands, people dancing, plus a glittering array of goods and products. It’s a fun day whether you’re into cars or not. Prizes and trophies for Best Dressed Guy and Gal, Best Classic Car and Hot Rod. The Gold FM Drag Race starts 12.30pm. Event prizegiving is 2.15pm.
