July 22-23: CRC Speedshow - Auckland

You may want to consider heading north this weekend for the CRC Speedshow at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds. The annual event is billed as New Zealand’s ultimate automotive playground, showcasing the finest, fastest and coolest new cars, race cars, race bikes, classics, motor sport celebrities, wild hot rods, muscle cars and custom creations from around NZ and the world. The show is open Saturday, July 22, 9am-6pm and Sunday, July 23, 9am-5pm. Tickets are available from www.speedshow.co.nz

July 23: Playday on Track - Taupo

Take an opportunity to drive around a real race track at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo for Playday on Track on Sunday, July 23. It doesn’t matter if you drive a $500 Holden, a family car or a $1.2 million Pagani Zonda as long as it’s roadworthy. Helmet, overalls, goggles and a sense of humour required. Gates open at 8am followed by a drivers’ briefing at 9.40am, familiarisation laps at 9.55am and the first cars out on the track at 10.10am until 4.30pm. August 12: Driver Experience Track Day – Taupo

A Driver Experience Track Day will be held at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo on Saturday, August 12. Organised by Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club Bay of Plenty, the track day will appeal to all drivers from experienced racers to those new to the track and want to see how their car performs. All you need is a NZ drivers licence and car with WoF (road) or logbook (race). A fun, non-competitive day sanctioned by MSNZ with sessions segregated by road or race car type and driver experience. Driver training is available from race-experienced male and female drivers. Numbers limited to allow lots of track time. All makes welcome at organisers’ discretion. September 10: Henry Ford Memorial Day - Hamilton

The 23rd annual Henry Ford Memorial Day display and swap meet will be held at Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton on Sunday, September 10. The event is hosted by the Waikato Mustang Owners Club and gates open at 8am. Entry is $5 per Ford vehicle/person, $10 for two or more, $5 per adult, family $10 and kids under 12 free. Swappers $15. Trade $25.
